A Night at the Races
What a night to remember.
It was an exciting, fast-paced evening of fun and frivolity and wow did everyone turn up looking elegant, polished and ready to impress those judges in the Fashion in the fields show.
The night started with drinks, nibbles and some friendly wagering on horse racing games, not quite the fast pace of the race track but some exciting finishes as do all good horse races and enough to get you in the mood.
Would it be the races without a Fashion in the Fields show. A number of contestants were selected to enter the inaugural Fashions on the Field show. Race day outfits were shown off as about 15 male and female contestants took to the catwalk. We were lucky enough to have some great supporters on the night and some very well qualified judges. Our contestants presented a great display of elegant and polished style that impressed the judges, making for a tough decision. However, winners there must be. Congratulations to all who participated it was so much fun to watch.
With dinner and dessert completed, it was time for the spectacle of the night. The Mount Runners and Walkers Inaugural Hobby Horse Dressage Competition. Horses were purchased from the stable and decorated accordingly by teams of table groups, and once riders and grooms were chosen to represent their team the competition began.
Various types of dressage styles were presented by riders, some articulately and others not so much, but laughter there was certainly lots of. Judges scored cautiously, allowing individual expression to be accounted for by each rider. I can’t remember enjoying anything as much as we enjoyed this show.
Music and dancing finished the night.
Thanks must go to the committee for organising such a great night but also to the club members who came along on the night with such enthusiasm and a willingness to participate and enjoy the night.
